Life goes on for
Peter Gallagher. Following the cancellation of his most recent television series
The O.C., the 51-year old actor will now grace the Lifetime original miniseries called
The Gathering.
Peter Gallagher, who portrayed Sandy Cohen on
The O.C., will depart from his idealistic public defender image to explore the mysteries of the upcoming horror-thriller themed show. In
The Gathering, the former
O.C. stars as the lead character Dr. Michael Foster in search of his wife after she vanishes without a trace. His search eventually leads him to a handful of cryptic clues and sinister findings, including the existence of a cabal of witches in modern day New York.
The two-part, four-hour drama, created by David Eick (
Battlestar Galactica) and John Shiban (
The X Files), is scheduled to premiere in October. The series will also feature Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Kristin Lehman, and Peter Fonda among others.
"It's great to be in business with David Eick and John Shiban who have created a truly unique and scary event for Lifetime," Susanne Daniels, President of Lifetime Entertainment Services, said. "The storytelling in The Gathering reminds us how unpredictable and unexplainable life can truly be."
"The scarier the real world gets, the more it seems we look to allegory to reflect our fears back at us. This is a very timely story, about how the people closest to you might be the ones you can trust the least," executive producer David Eick added.
The Gathering is Lifetime's second original miniseries, after the network's 2005 highly rated drama Human Trafficking.
"We wanted to take a horror staple -- witchcraft -- and give it a dose of reality and make television that scares because it feels real so I'm thrilled to be partnered with David and Lifetime as we try to apply the same reality ethos to the horror genre," executive producer John Shiban said.
