Before BravoTV's
BrilliantButCanceled, there was no reason to root for shows to fail. Well, unless you're a terrible, terrible person like me (or, possibly, you). I always root for shows to fail miserably, even when I've never even seen an episode of said show. But, there are fundamental truths to life, and one of them is this: New TV shows will be taken off the air unceremoniously and without remorse, like a court jester banished to the guillotine.
BrillinatButCancelled's "DeathWatch" now allows us to bet on which show will be canceled first. The odds are based on the votes each show is getting from the public, ranging from 3:1 (for FOX's
Happy Hour) to 342:1 (for ABC's
The Nine). I put my money (and by "money" I mean the "negligble intellectual currency of pride") on FOX's
Vanished, which I have been told is horrible and whose pilot depicts a child being blown up by dynamite. Vanished's odds are at 34-1, so I'm kind of going out on a limb here. Anyway, if you pick the first show to be canceled you are automatically entered into a contest to win either a Video Ipod, or a big-screen TV. Fun stuff all around.
