After her surprise elimination on The Next Food Network Star, certified nutritionist Philadelphia native Katie Cavuto reveals her plans for the mean time include working on a new cookbook.
"I just started," Cavuto tells the Examiner. "It will have a 'farm to table' seasonal approach. I actually focus more on tasty foods that do not contain pesticides, hormones and the things that are really bad for you, as opposed to fat and calorie content. I enjoy a good burger and brownie just like the rest of us. You just need to know what to choose! I will let you know how it is going!"
Cavuto, whose culinary focus had been toward healthy and green cooking, was eliminated after her stunning performance on the episode featuring
The Rachael Ray Show, where the contestants were made to cook for kids. For her part, she doesn't deny that the elimination surprised her, but over all, she concedes that
The Next Food Network Star is still a "wonderful" experience and she'd do the show again given a chance.
"I was 100% stunned. I thought I did extremely well in the mini-challenge. I thought it was important to be bright and animated for the children. I tried to make "yucko" food good, fun and exciting. Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay liked the presentation, so I really don't know what happened. I went into the elimination with my head held high--even thought I would win that week, but the only things they pointed out were the things I did wrong. Again, I was stunned and disheartened."
On the Rachael Ray Show Challenge on the episode, the chefs paired up and do live presentation of the Rachel Ray show. The dishes must add an "adult" twist on "kid" dishes.
On the last episode of
The Next Food Network Star, executive chef Michael Proietti was eliminated after the finalists catered a Miami cocktail party as a team.
