As the Writers' Guild Strike enters its fifth week with nary a development that could end the ongoing impasse, networks have been left with little choice but to come up with alternative programming schedules. CBS has just released its revamped emergency anti-strike lineup, which will see the return of
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the rest of her gang on
The New Adventures of Old Christine.
Also part of CBS' backup schedule is the freshman comedy called
The Captain.

Woohoo! Old Christine is a really good traditional sitcom, and I wish people would give it a chance before...
The New Adventures of Old Christine resumes with its third season come Monday, January 28. It takes over for the
David Spade vehicle,
Rules of Engagement, which was forced to shut down production for its current season prematurely, due to the still unresolved writers' walkout.
The New Adventures of Old Christine regains its original Monday night time slot at 9:30, after another comedy,
Two and a Half Men, which stars
Charlie Sheen and
Jon Cryer.
The New Adventures of Old Christine centers on a divorced working mother and her struggles to balance motherhood, dating and a career.
Seinfeld alumna and Emmy Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as the title character.
An hour ahead of
The New Adventures of Old Christine,
The Captain is scheduled to debut also on January 28. Starring
Arrested Development's
Jeffrey Tambor and
American Pie's Chris Klein, this new series will move into the 8:30pm slot on Mondays, replacing
The Big Bang Theory, which has used up all its new material for this, its promising, maiden season.
Also a comedy,
The Captain tells the story of a colorful bunch of people who develop ties with one another because of the fabled building they all call home. El Capitan, which the residents have renamed
The Captain, is a Hollywood apartment complex with its own history, charm and personality. The series also features Fran Kranz, Al Madrigal, Valerie Azlynn, Joanna Garcia and the legendary Raquel Welch.
