British citizen Charles Shaughnessy is an Emmy Award-winning film and television actor born on February 9, 1955 in London, England. The son of actress Jean Lodge and scriptwriter Alfred Shaughnessy, his earliest acting experiences were plays in grade school. He attended Eton and Cambridge University, as well as a London drama school, and toured with a repertory company after graduating. Charles Shaughnessy later went on to act in several TV series and movies, such as
Days of Our Lives ,
Veronica Mars , National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2, The Wild Thornberrys Movie, Touched by an Angel, and
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . He won a Daytime Emmy for his portrayal of the Dennis the Goldfish on Disney’s animated series Stanley.
Maxwell Sheffield is portrayed by Charles Shaughnessy in the television comedy The Nanny. He is a moderately successful Broadway theater producer, who considers Andrew Lloyd Webber as his rival. He’s always been irked by the fact that he turned down the chance to work on Cats, which made Webber a rich man. His wife has passed away, leaving him to raise his children Gracie, Brighton and Maggie. However, his busy schedule leaves him with almost no free time, so he hires Fran Fine to take care of the kids as their nanny.
