FOX Orders 13 More Episodes of 'The Moment of Truth'
The Moment of Truth has been picked up for 13 additional episodes by FOX.  The controversial reality game show, which awards individuals money based on how many personal questions they can answer while strapped up to a polygraph machine, has become a surprise hit for FOX.  The show is the highest rated new series of the season, almost completely in part to the nice little lead-in of American Idol.  To be fair, though, The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer would have been the highest rated new show if it premiered after American Idol.  Regardless, The Moment of Truth's second week numbers were solid and, reassured, FOX decided to order the additional 13 episodes.

Apparently, after first week complaints about the excess and over-dramatic pauses between answers and results, The Moment of Truth has tightened up its editing.  I haven't watched the series since the pilot, and I won't ever again.  Sorry – if I'm going to watch a morally bankrupt TV show, it's going to have to be a lot more entertaining than Moment of Truth.  Seriously, shame on you, America.  Why would you ever watch this show?

I guess the best reason (and for me, the only reasonable one) is that you were watching American Idol and lost the TV remote.  Then you left the TV on as you did something productive with your life.  The Moment of Truth seems like the kind of thing that would appear in a deleted scene in V for Vendetta. It's a little scary.

But, 13 more episodes?  Let's hope that The Moment of Truth's success is a complete product of it's Idol lead-in and that the first chance it gets at an Idol-less existence the series crashes and burns.  Any Moment of Truth apologists out there, I ask you to vigorously defend the series.  I want to know why people are watching.
