Early this month, FOX announced it was ordering 13 additional episodes of the new and controversial game show,
The Moment of Truth. The pick-up is not surprising, given the show's outstanding performance so far.
Fans of
The Moment of Truth, however, will have to wait until the summer to catch the additional installments, as the network said yesterday that the show will take a short break after its April 2 broadcast, which will serve as a spring finale.
Taking over the Moment of Truth in the spring are the comedy series ‘
Til Death and
Back to You, which will fill in the 8/7c and 8:30/7:30c timeslots, respectively. Each has five new episodes for the season, with the first ones airing on April 17.
The Moment of Truth will then return with the additional 13 episodes on Thursday, June 12.
Aside from the additional installments of
The Moment of Truth, FOX's summer programming also includes the fourth season of
So You Think You Can Dance, new episodes of
Hell's Kitchen, Cops and
America's Most Wanted, and the freshman reality show
When Women Rule the World.
Repeats of hit scripted series like
Bones and
House will also be shown during the summer.
The Moment of Truth, hosted by Mark L. Wahlberg, is a unique game show that awards contestants for giving truthful answers to questions pertaining to their personal lives. Contestants are strapped to a polygraph, and if caught lying lose the chance to win $500,000 and are forced to go home empty-handed.
The new show has been doing well in the ratings, with its February 6 broadcast earning 16.9 million viewers. The show's high viewership won the 9pm hour for FOX that Wednesday night.
This could all change, however, come March 5, when
The Moment of Truth moves into its regular 8pm Wednesday timeslot, during which the show will no longer have the protection of an American Idol-lead-in.
