The Mole

Despite renewed rumors that it just might face cancellation again, ABC's The Mole will showcase a recap of its first five episodes, along with never-before-seen footage, in a one-hour special called “The Mole: Take Another Look” airing 9pm Monday night on ABC.  Of course, episode 506 will immediately follow at 10pm.

Earlier, it was reported that (the increasingly thinning) fans of The Mole need not worry that their favorite show will be canceled.  Despite a dismal premiere and dwindling audience share, The Mole's fifth season is assured of completing its seven remaining episodes.  If it will be renewed for a sixth season, however, remains to be seen.

As said, highlights of the first five episodes, perhaps to help boost ratings for The Mole is up for the one-hour special.  Episode 501 or the premiere saw the 12 players meeting for the first time in Los Angeles, Chile.  The task was to conquer one's fear and jump over the edge of a waterfall.  One player was left stranded on a deserted beach, while another, as always, was “executed.”

Episode 502 had the players play Chile's most popular sport, soccer.  They faced a formidable team, while Bobby traveled in a wheelbarrow to search for missing pigs.  Episode 503, a particularly interesting one, saw the players in their underwear running around the streets of the Chilean capital Santiago to beg for clothes.  Someone took a $30,000 bribe to leave the show.

In Episode 504, the players had to carry bricks of gold while traversing the majestic Andes.  Episode 505, meanwhile, saw the players having to trust each other lest they suffer from hypothermia.  In a shocking twist of events, too, the most loved player becomes the most hated.

Sometimes dubbed one of the smartest reality shows on television before, The Mole is your regular survival-of-the-fittest-through-challenges show with a twist: one of the players is the mole, who is working to sabotage the game.
