The good news keeps coming for the new fall season. Following NBC, which gave full-season orders to
Revolution,
Go On and
The New Normal last week, FOX has picked up two of its new shows for full seasons.
Tuesday night comedies
Ben and Kate and
The Mindy Project have each been picked up for a full season after just two episodes, although technically
Ben and Kate only got six additional episodes (bringing its season total to 19) while
The Mindy Project got the full nine extra episodes for a 22-episode season.
The Mindy Project premiered with 4.67 million viewers while
Ben and Kate premiered with just 4.2 million. Both shows dropped about a million viewers in their second episodes. Despite the relatively soft ratings, FOX is committed to its new Tuesday night comedy line-up where these new shows join
Raising Hope and
New Girl.
It's an impressive start to the fall season as five shows have already been picked up for full seasons while no shows have been cancelled yet.
The orders for
Mindy Project and
Ben and Kate are good for FOX's comedies, but could bode poorly for the only other new FOX show,
The Mob Doctor, which has been doing roughly similar in the ratings to the two comedies.
Ben and Kate airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm and
The Mindy Project airs Tuesdays at 9:30pm on FOX.
