I would've begun this preview with the thought of the guy who plays Rev. Newlin on
True Blood being the bad guy in last week's
The Mentalist. But no, I am distracted by this bigger thought: finally, Rigsby and Van Pelt made it official! I mean, look at that!
Of course, this will trigger a lot more than it should be--what if they get discovered?--but I'm sure this all means a new personal aspect that Jane can play with. After all, he did see it coming from the very beginning.
But let's see if he can get to play with that tonight. Remember the electronic bug he planted a few episodes back, when he purportedly tried to make peace with Bosco after his incessant attempts to look for new information regarding Red John? Well, let's say the cover is blown, Bosco is fuming, and Jane is sent to jail. Oh, yes, Jane is sent to jail, and if that isn't a real pain in the ass for Lisbon, then I don't know what else will.
But, of course, Jane won't leave himself useless: he'll still help the rest of the team from the not-so-comfy confines of prison. Sure, he'll investigate the murder of a young man. And sure, he's done it before. But when all you see are dirty white walls, you've got to ask for some fresh air soon, right? Or maybe some Rigspelt loving to play with.
The Mentalist returns tonight from 10pm on CBS. And yes, Jane looks good even in prison garb. The photos are right below.
