What would happen if the world population was decimated after a global pandemic? The Last Ship explores that existence after 80% of the world's people were killed by a quickly spread virus. The hope of humanity comes down to secret research for a cure being done on the US Navy destroyer, U.S.S. Nathan James.

Captain Tom Chandler, played by Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy) and his crew were conducting a top secret mission with complete radio silence throughout the epidemic, so they had no idea about spread of the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, Rhona Mitra (Strikeback) plays a paleomicrobiologist, Rachel Scott, who was stationed on his ship to find a cure to the disease in secret. She holds the hope for humanity in a few ice core samples she took. Will she find the cure?

The show also stars Adam Baldwin (Chuck) Travis Van Winkle (Hart of Dixie), Charles Parnell (Pariah), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Sam Spruell (Snow White and The Huntsman) and Marissa Neitling (Leverage).

Power struggles. Explosions. Fire fights. Sword fights. Fierce leadership. What more can you want from an action-packed thriller?

The virus originated outside Cairo before it spread across the world. The virus didn't discriminate, even the President of the United States was taken down in the pandemic. The country is in shambles after the outbreak.

"It's a new world now. A world of sick and desperate people. And one chance to save them all. A ship. My ship." - Captain Chandler

Captain Chandler and his crew have one mission now. They must protect Rachel Scott and the cure. It's the end of the world and everyone wants the cure.

From Michael Bay, The Last Ship is an action-packed thriller that follows the quest to save humankind.

The Last Ship premieres on Sunday, June 22 at 9 pm ET on TNT.
