Born July 8, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rocky Carroll is an actor who is deeply rooted in theater. He was educated at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts and continued to Webster University’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts in St. Louis where he graduated with a degree in fine arts. Upon graduating he moved to New York to pursue an acting career and later on took part in Joe Papp’s “Shakespeare on Broadway” series. Carroll was very involved with the New York Shakespeare Festival and took on roles that were rarely played by black actors. He also took part of the production of The Piano Lesson by August Wilson, which earned a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Carroll subsequently earned a Tony and Drama Desk nomination. His television appearances started with his role as Joey on the series
Roc, and were followed by his role as Dr. Keith Wilkes in
Chicago Hope. He also appeared as guest on
The Agency,
Boston Legal,
Family Law,
The West Wing, and
Law & Order. His movie appearances include those in
Born on the Fourth of July,
The Ladies Man and
Crimson Tide.
Denholm is played by Rocky Carroll in the television series
The IT Crowd. Denholm is the company head of the firm where Roy and Moss, two computer nerds, work as the IT department. Denholm somehow doesn't like them, thus banishing them to the building's basement to stay there for as long as he heads the company.
