The Hills

Last night, MTV served up not one, but two fresh episodes of The Hills. In the first, Whitney made the tough decision to leave Teen Vogue to pursue her dreams of becoming a stylist. Lauren and Brody saw each other for the first time since she got back from Paris and the reunion didn’t go well. They had a very mature exchange at Le Deux, which basically consisted of her saying, “Where’s your girlfriend?”, him saying, “Where’s YOUR boyfriend?”, him storming out, and his friend Frankie lecturing Lauren for being mean. In the second episode, Stephanie Pratt made reappeared and was a lot nicer than last season. Almost TOO nice. It makes one wonder: whose side is she on?

The first conflict of interest that took place was Stephanie helping Heidi repaint her apartment after Spencer moved out.  Spencer did move in with his sister but she seemed more focused on getting Heidi back on her feet than comforting Spencer.  She seemed to side with Heidi in the conversation, putting Spencer down, and bonding with her.  Next, when she landed in a class with Lauren at FIDM, she actually approached her and apologized to her.  For those who missed it, last season the two had a run in, where Stephanie told Lauren that if she had a problem with Spencer, she had a problem with her.  At the end of the episode, the two were shown eating and laughing together, and Stephanie called her brother "annoying" and said she'd like to forget that they live together.

In next week's episode, Brody finds out that Lauren and Stephanie are hanging out and tries to warn his friend about getting too close to Spencer's sis.  When Heidi finds out that Stephanie is invited to Lauren's birthday bash, she says that she doesn't want to talk to her anymore.  When Spencer finds out, there's hell to pay as he launches a verbal attack on her, leaving her in tears.  What is with Stephanie's allegiance to Heidi, and even more bizarre, to Lauren?  Did she really have a change of heart or has she been coached by The Hills producers and writers to stir up some trouble?
