Be still, my heart! On last night’s episode of
The Hills, Stephen Coletti made a return to
Lauren Conrad’s life. My favorite about the first half of the episode was that Lo and
Audrina kept saying, “Stephen? Stephen COLETTI?” as if they didn’t know who he was. After all, Lo went to high school with him and she knows exactly who Stephen is. It’s just so obvious when the cast members are having forced conversations for the benefit of the audience. Lo immediately went back to the days of Laguna Beach, talking in a high pitched, excited voice and planning out Lauren and Stephen’s (non-existent) future. Though it seemed for a hot second that the attraction was still there between them, Stephen squashed all ideas of a romantic interlude when the pair headed out to dinner.
Lauren, Lo, and Audrina decide to have a housewarming party for their new place in Hollywood. Lauren decides to invite
Brody and his new girlfriend as well as Stephen. Audrina asks Justin Bobby to come, which doesn’t sit well with the other girls. When Audrina tells him that, he says that it isn’t anybody’s business and wonders why she is even living with people who don’t approve of her life. Enough about that, though. On to Lauren and Stephen! The two reunite after quite some time and he says that they’ll catch up at dinner, when there aren’t so many people around.
The first sign of trouble was when Lauren came down the stairs for her “date” wearing a beautiful blue dress while Stephen was dressed very casually. He didn’t look like he was trying to impress. The two headed out to eat, where she brought up the fact that Lo was teasing her about going out with him. He said that his parents joked with him and she said the same about hers. Then, he dropped the bomb. “Can’t two friends hang out and have it just be platonic?” The look on Lauren’s face was evident: she was crushed. No matter how hard she tries, a relationship with Stephen Coletti just isn’t meant to be. He dropped her off, they awkwardly hugged, and she went on her way, back where she started ... alone.
