At some point, you have to just start thinking that maybe Lauren Conrad, star of MTV's The Hills, is just a sucker for punishment.  I used to have friends who loved being the victim, so that people would always feel sorry for them and give them attention.  Did Heidi and Spencer, or did they not, spread rumors through several news media outlets that Lauren had a sex tape?  It's clear that the three are enemies, who will never be able to be civil to one another.  Lauren's best friend and roommate Audrina knows that, yet insisted on socializing with them behind Lauren's back when she went on vacation.  As if that wasn't enough, Stephanie decided to head out on a date with Doug without telling Lauren.  When she returned home to Los Angeles, Lo and Brody dropped the bombs on her and she realized that good friends are just hard to come by.

Let's start with Audrina.  So - Audrina and Lo are out at a nightclub when Spencer and Heidi happen to walk in, too.  Lo does her best to ignore the couple but Audrina seems interested to talk to them.  For most of the conversation, Audrina seemed to try to dig for information on Stephanie and Doug but did admit that she misses hanging out with Heidi.  The two made plans to meet up the next night, heading out on a double date.  Based on the way they all socialized, it would not be surprising if these two former friends started spending more time together and mending their broken relationship.

Doug decided, after his breakup with Lauren, that maybe he should give things with Stephanie a try.  He asks her out to dinner and she says yes, but not before consulting with Audrina.  Stephanie sees no problem with going out with Doug but Audrina suggests that she at least clear it with Lauren before going.  Choosing not to take the advice, Stephanie goes out anyway with Doug.  She admits that she didn't tell Lauren and he admits that he didn't tell Brody.  Just then, Brody's mom walks in and the two are forced to make polite conversation so it seems the two are busted.

When Lauren returned from her vacay, Lo wastes no time filling her in on Audrina and Stephanie's betrayals.  At dinner with Brody, he tells her that he tried to warn her about Stephanie but she just wouldn't listen.  By the end of season 4 of The Hills, will Lauren only have 3 friends left?
