Last night, the fourth season of
The Hills premiered on MTV.
Lauren Conrad promised more drama and more romance and man, she wasn't kidding! She's already dating a new guy, Doug, who's as rich as he is good looking. Lauren and Doug knew each other in high school - in fact, he took her to his prom! He's all grown up now and seems invested in Lauren. For now. Those of us who have watched the preview of the upcoming season know that the rat goes out on a date with Stephanie Pratt, at some point, behind Lauren's back. This budding relationship won't last long, apparently. The big drama last night, though, was between Lo and
Audrina, who can't seem to get along. Frankly, if I was Audrina, I wouldn't get along with Lo either.
Look, I watched
Laguna Beach and Lo had about as much personality as the palm trees in Lauren's front yard. Why has she suddenly become the bitchy girl from
The Hills. I just don't understand why she wanted to get a house with Lauren and Audrina if she only wanted to be friends with one of those people. The whole thing seemed to be Lo's idea but since the three girls have shacked up together, she has made zero attempt with Audrina. Actually, that's not fair to say. She's put out an effort - but to drive Audrina away, not to be her friend.
This whole thing puts Lauren in quite the awkward position which begs the question: how many friends does this girl need to lose in order to be a reality star? She doesn't talk to anyone from Laguna Beach (either that or they're camera shy), she's lost Heidi forever (good riddance), but now she seems to be in a situation where she has to choose sides. Unless someone can get these girls to smoke a peace pipe, Lauren is going to have to let go of her friendship with Lo or Audrina.
Sometimes, in life, as girls, our friends choose people that we can't stand. They're friends with girls we'd never associate with, they date guys we wouldn't give a second glance to. That doesn't give us the right to interfere, though, and try to push people apart. Audrina, in no way, seems to be bad for Lauren. In fact, she's really been the consistent one in her life since Lauren made the move to Los Angeles. Lo may think that she's doing Lauren a favor but, in the end, she's only going to come out looking like the bad guy.
Who should Lauren unload?
