The Hills: Following Lauren Conrad's Fashion Career
Whoever thought appearing in an O.C.-like reality show will help you make waves in another industry where cameras go flashing and your initials suddenly becomes a household name?  For Lauren Conrad, she doesn’t mind being under the public eye. Following her dispute with her Hills co-star Heidi Montag, she has exerted effort in focusing on her own skills and talents and showing them off to the world.  Recently, the reality star turned fashion designer landed a major designing gig, this time for the 69th Annual Emmy Awards.

“I am so excited that the Academy has asked me to design a dress for this year’s Emmy Awards,” Lauren Conrad told People magazine.

The 22-year-old former BFF of Heidi Montag was asked to design the dresses for the Emmy Awards trophy girls, making Conrad the first celebrity designer to create these outfits for the women.

“I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist,” Conrad reveals.

Moreover, she adds that it was an honor for her to receive this request, as she has been previously criticized for not being involved with her own clothing line.

“It’s a huge compliment to be asked to do that, and it was really amazing to be taken seriously,” she says.  As for the rumors about her neglecting her job as a designer in her clothing line, she says that they were just silly rumors which came from someone who “knew how important the line is to me and knew that that would hurt me.”

Meanwhile, it seems that Conrad’s neighbors aren’t as pleased with her as the Academy.  In fact, many have complained about the noise and the traffic she causes in the once-quiet neighborhood. Since the house is very accessible from the street, paparazzi and tourists have stopped to observe the wonder that is her house.

Lauren Conrad recently told E! Online that she is planning to move out, much to her neighbors’ relief.  In fact, she is planning on going back home to the Orange County.

"We’re going to have to move after we're done filming," Conrad said.  "I would love to return to Orange County. L.A. is a really young city and it's great for now, but eventually I'm going to want to settle down a little bit."

Catch The Hills as it returns to television screens on August 18.
