Last week,
The Hills star
Heidi Montag dropped her new single, "Higher," produced by Theron Feemster, more popularly known as Neff-U in the industry, and quickly followed it up with a music video directed by none other than her boyfriend and show costar Spencer Pratt. The video has been posted on the web several times, earning thousands of hits, although not for reasons Montag was probably hoping for.
Apparently, most of the people who have seen the video (and heard the song for that matter) are not so impressed with Heidi Montag's latest musical offering, with
People magazine reporting that the video got a “unanimously negative” reception from many of their readers.
To be perfectly honest, it's not such a big surprise that Montag's “Higher” video has gotten more jeers than cheers. All that viewers are treated to is nearly four minutes of
The Hills star rolling around on the beach in a pink bikini, clutching at her surgically-enhanced chest and making googly-eyes at the camera, which, as seen on the accompanying making-of-the-music-video video, is controlled solely by Pratt, who gets a little bit of action in the water as well. Montag's singing doesn't do much to elevate the quality of the video, either. If anything, her mediocre voice and seemingly one-line song only added to the hilarity of the production.
If you haven't seen Heidi Montag's new music video, here it is, as well as the behind-the-scenes look featuring Pratt, a boombox, and a guy who picked the wrong day to go out fishing:
The irony with all this is obvious. Montag's song is about taking it “higher, higher, higher,” but all things considered, there's a good chance her music career will never take off. All is not over for her just yet, however, as there's still some life left in her television career. As it stands, there's still one more season of
The Hills to look forward to, as well as the eight special spring episodes chronicling Montag's archrival
Lauren Conrad's work-related trip to Paris, France.
