Rose Nylund is played by Betty White in the award-winning television sitcom
The Golden Girls. The most kind-hearted member of the group, she’s often shown as being comically naïve, and has a tendency to tell rambling stories about her odd hometown St. Olaf in Minnesota. Her earliest years were spent in an orphanage, though she was adopted and raised by dairy farmers along with eight siblings, and she says that they were all loved equally. Betty also nurtured a deep love for animals during her time on the farm, and became heavily involved in charity work later in her life.
