Watch the First 'Glee Project' Season 2 Music Video, Lady Gaga's 'Edge of Glory'
Friday, May 11, 2012
The Glee Project is back for a second season on Oxygen starting Tuesday, June 5 at 10pm, but you can watch their first music video now.
On the premiere episode, the kids competing for a recurring role on Glee's fourth season will take on Lady Gaga's "Edge of Glory," which coincidentally will also be one of New Directions' three songs at Nationals.
It also lets us see the 14 contestants in performance mode, so watch the video then check out my first impressions of the new crop of wannabe Glee stars.
OK, let's go through each of the contestants as they appear in the video.
Blake: The first one to sing seems pretty solid, like he could fit in nicely on the show as someone on the same level as Sam.
Charlie: Why is Cory Monteith on this show and pretending his name is Charlie? Seriously, this kid could be his doppelganger.
Maxfield: I want to hate this guy for his name alone, but I am already in love with his rich country twang, and that's a vocal style Glee does not have.
Mario: He's blind. That's about all I get from him so far.
Abraham: I'm digging the red streak in his hair, and if the show wants to have someone cause trouble in Mike and Tina's inevitable long distance relationship, he could be perfect.
Nellie: I love her, love everything about her, and I'm already hoping she wins. The girl sparkles on screen.
Aylin: Totally forgettable as the girl getting a bag out of the taxi's trunk.
Lily Mae: The token "big girl" needs to stop smiling so much. I feel like she almost gave me diabetes.
Shanna: Is it just me, or does she look EXACTLY like the actress who plays Dalia on Suburgatory? Also, her eyes seem to be completely dead, which frightens me.
Ali: I didn't expect wheelchair girl to have such a squeaky voice. I imagine I will get annoyed by that after a very short amount of time.
Michael: Who? This guy could not be more forgettable if he tried.
Tyler: Wow, the transgender kid makes Alex Newell look like Ted Nugent. I'm guessing Ryan Murphy will immediately fall in love with him.
Taryn: When all you get to do is repeatedly sing "the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge," it's clear you're not going to make it far on this show.
Dani: It's Justin Bieber! Also known as that girl from America's Got Talent. I'm definitely a fan.
So that's the new potential Glee stars. After just one music video, my top five are Nellie, Dani, Abraham, Blake and Maxfield. Who's your favorite?
