Holly Madison split from Hugh Hefner and his mansion, then departed from The Girls Next Door, and now she’s taking even more steps to leave her Playboy past behind.  Sources have revealed that she quit her job as the magazine’s Playmate editor.  Though what her position entails isn’t clear, it’s evident that she no longer has ties to the company.

Madison stated her reasons for quitting, however.  As many already know, she’s been dating the famous illusionist, Criss Angel.  Apparently, the two are simply hoping to spend more time together in Las Vegas.  But there’s more to it than that.

Since the couple has been spotted numerous times together, Madison might be neglecting her job in the publication.  Insiders say that she hasn’t been seen working in the Playboy offices for quite some time.  With that, it’s probably a good decision on her part to simply quit. 

Holly even released a statement on her Official MySpace page regarding the matter.  She wrote on her blog that: “I quit for several reasons:  1. I moved to Vegas and that job doesn't pay enough to make a commute worthwhile (I never cared about the salary when I got the job-I made my money doing Girls Next Door and I just did the job because I loved it.)” 

She added the second reason as, “After two years of it, I no longer found it challenging.  It got to be routine, which was sad for me, since I was initially so passionate about the job and the creative aspects involved.  3. It was awkward.  Not that anyone tried to make it awkward or didn't treat me fairly . . . it just was.” 

Madison also expressed her aggravation at people who thought her job as Playboy editor was fake.  “If I had wanted a fake career for Girls Next Door I would have stuck with the jewelry line because that required very little of my time.  I spent way more than full time directing shoots, editing, making mock layouts and approving retouching.” 

Despite the unrewarding feeling she got from editing Hefner’s magazine, Holly admitted that she did enjoy the chance to work in Playboy.  “But I loved my job while I had it, appreciate the opportunity and the experience greatly and wish whoever takes my place the best.”
