The Girls Next Door

The news ain't good for Holly Madison, one of Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner's live-in girlfriends on The Girls Next Door.  For some time now, the 28-year old Madison has been waiting in the wings to become the next Mrs. Hefner and has even been unabashedly vocal about wanting to have his children.  Well, the babies can still come but a walk down the aisle now seems just a figment of her fantasies.

In no uncertain terms, the 82-year old Hef has declared the rest of his life as something he intends to spend as an unmarried man.

"I love Holly very much and I think we're going to be together the rest of my life.  But marriage isn't part of my puzzle,” the Playboy founder remarked.  “It's not a personal thing - I just haven't had much luck with marriages."

Indeed, The Girls Next Door resident leading man has twice exchanged ‘I Dos' before and both times have ended in divorce.  This means that while he acknowledges Holly as the “love of his life” and his number one girlfriend among the three Girls Next Door (the other two being Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson), theirs will never be a matrimonial union.

Madison herself expressed her frustration their lengthy relationship seemingly headed nowhere.

"We are no closer to getting married than we were years ago,” she said at last week's Playmate of the Year luncheon.  “It's like a car stalled at the side of the road."

If there's one thing her elusive squeeze isn't stalling to commit to however, it is his passion for and dedication to what he has done best throughout the years.

"I have no plans to retire,” the famous octogenarian said.  “It's the perfect combination of work and play that keeps you young.  If I quit work it would be the beginning of the end for me."
