The first wave of nominations for the 2014 Teen Choice Awards are out, including plenty of young-skewing shows. For TV shows, The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars both scored an impressive five nominations (in just three categories each).



For TV dramas, Pretty Little Liars will do battle with fellow ABC Family shows The Fosters, Switched at Birth and Twisted. The CW's Hart of Dixie is the only non-ABC Family show nominated, even in the acting categories.

The Vampire Diaries rules the Sci-Fi/Fantasy categories, where other nominees include Once Upon a Time and Teen Wolf. Glee will compete in the Comedy categories against such diverse programs as The Big Bang Theory and Disney Channel's Austin and Ally.

In the Movie categories, the Kickstarter-funded Veronica Mars film is nominated for three awards. Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley are both double nominees for film, with X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and American Hustle for Lawrence and The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent for Woodley. The most intriguing battle may be for Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actor, where the Hemsworth brothers (Thor and The Hunder Games) will face-off against Captain America, Spider-Man and Peeta from The Hunger Games.

Noticeably absent from the Music categories is Justin Bieber, who seems to have been replaced by the less-controversial Austin Mahone. Besides Music, Mahone is also nominated for Choice Smile and Choice Male Hottie, where he will have to compete against Zac Efron, Ryan Gosling, Ian Somerhalder, Liam Hemsworth and One Direction (who compete as one). Choice Female Hottie nominees include Rihanna, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner and Bella Thorne.
