Looks like Kim Bauer is making the most of her downtime in New York.

24 star Elisha Cuthbert is joining ABC's half-struggling drama The Forgotten in a recurring role. She is set to play Maxine Denver, a successful Chicago professional who is initially skeptical of the efforts of The Forgotten Network until they investigate a case that's close to her.

The role is not expected to affect her appearance on the upcoming season of 24: she's expected to appear as Kim Bauer in only a handful of episodes, and her stint on The Forgotten--which averages under 8 million viewers per outing--is expected to begin in February, shortly after she wraps up her stint on the Fox series.

So, yes, I guess we can't expect Cuthbert to be a regular on 24 this season. Goodbye then, Jack's granddaughter...
