A new drama is something worth getting psyched up about, but
The Ex List takes it a step further, bringing on a psychic to their crew. Executive producer and lead writer Diane Ruggiero spoke at the Television Critic's Association summer press tour and gave out details on the new show.
During the news conference, Ruggiero provided a little background about the premise of
The Ex List. The lead character, Bella Bloom, will be played by Elizabeth Reaser. She is soon confronted by a psychic about her relationships. According to her, Bella's husband is someone from Bella's past, someone she has already dated. The psychic Marina, which is a vital element in the story, will be played by Anne Nahabedian.
Ruggiero, known for her work on the successful series
Veronica Mars, enthused about the actress' portrayal of the eccentric tarot card reader. “I think that the actress, Anna, is fantastic, and I just really would like to see her as much as we possibly can. I don't think we'll see her in every episode, but we're going to see her in as many as I can get away with,” she said.
Though it deals with the fantasy genre,
The Ex List won't rely heavily on supernatural elements to run the show. It's more of a romantic comedy which was initiated by a mystical idea, hatching the consequences that the protagonist continues to deal with. Bella only has a year to find her soul mate, and the psychic reminds her that she must discover the identity of the man if she doesn't want to live alone forever.
Since Diane Ruggiero seems to be excited about the performance of the show's fortuneteller, viewers deserve to know who she is. Anne Nahabedian has previously been seen on other fantasy and mystery series. She made appearances on acclaimed shows like
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and portrayed the character Amira on the sci-fi drama by J.J. Abrams,
Lost.
As part of CBS' fall lineup,
The Ex List will premiere on October 3, 9:00pm ET/PT.
