Robert A. Riggle, Jr. is a comedian and actor who was born on April 21, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was raised in Overland Park, Kansas, and would eventually go on to an extensive career in comedy, television, and film. One of the television shows he appeared on was the short-lived Straight Plan for the Gay Man, a parody of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, wherein he was on of the “Flab Four.” He has also worked on other series such as Upright Citizens Brigade, The Office, and Arrested Development. Riggle became most well-known for being a featured player for Saturday Night Live, and then a correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
Riggle’s work on the two seminal comedy shows has been the highlight of his career. For SNL, he parodied the likes of Larry the Cable Guy, Mark McGwire, and Howard Dean. On The Daily Show, he is the designated senior military correspondent, which ties into his real-life career in the United States military. Riggle holds the rank of major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, and has served in countries such as Afghanistan, Kosovo, and Liberia. He is a veteran of various combat situations, and he presently works as a public affairs officer for the armed forces.
