The Bold and the Beautiful: Eileen Davidson Discusses Return to Parent Soap
Wednesday, January 02, 2008

Eileen DavidsonAs previously reported on our Young and the Restless page, Eileen Davidson is back in Genoa City for a limited, three-episode story arc, reprising the role of Ashley Abbott, which she originated on The Young and the Restless back in 1982.  Now essaying the same role on The Bold and the Beautiful, Davidson and her Ashley Abbott persona have returned to their roots starting with the episode last December 28 and carrying on today till tomorrow.

Davidson spoke about her character's visit to her old stomping grounds, before Ashley Abbott made her way to the glitzy and glamorous Los Angeles fashion world in The Young and the Restless spin-off, The Bold and the Beautiful.

According to the veteran soap actress, Ashley is back in Genoa City to give her brother Jack a piece of her mind.

"She doesn't want to get into anything too confrontational because he is her brother and he's in dire need," Davidson said.  "The scenes are great.  She's appealing to his conscience:  'You have to honor what our father wanted.'  It's as simple as that."

The actress was alluding to the storyline involving their father, John Abbott's desire to bequeath his estate to wife Gloria, the stepmother Jack despises.  Jack went on to manipulate his father's will to keep Gloria from inheriting anything.

"Just because you don't like somebody doesn't mean you should do something illegal," Davidson defended her character's stance.  "The point is, their father loved her.  And even if they don't like her, they have to honor what he wanted.  Ashley never wanted to do anything that went against her father's wishes.  She just wants him [Jack] to do the right thing."

The current Bold and the Beautiful character's brief trip back to The Young and the Restless is both hectic and full of urgent encounters.  Aside from imploring with her brother, Ashley also speaks with Jack's estranged wife, Sharon.

"She's very worried that Jack seems to be losing everything in life that's important to him," Davidson remarked.  "She has a talk with Sharon about that.  She says, 'This is who my brother is.  He tends to make mistakes.  It doesn't mean he's not trying.  So unless you really want to build a life with him, you shouldn't bother.'  Because, you know, Jack is not an easy person to be with."

Ashley's final stop in Genoa will be to see her ex-husband, Victor.

"The reason she goes to see Victor is because she's aware what's going on with [his ailing daughter] Victoria.  She says, 'How's Victoria?  I've been praying for her,' " Davidson revealed.

"It was great to see everyone," the actress admitted, adding that the only weird thing was that the show did not bring Ashley's young daughter, Abby, with her for the holiday visit.

"They didn't really mention her, so I just assume she was at her best friend's house in Beverly Hills [on The Bold and the Beautiful]."
