Former
Young and the Restless actress, Heather Tom, is pleased to be part of the cast of
The Bold and the Beautiful. As reported previously, the 31-year-old actress has signed a six-month long contract with the long-running soap, taking over the role of Katherine "Katie" Logan, who was previously portrayed by Nancy Sloan. In an interview with
Soap Opera Digest, she talks about her experiences and her sentiments on her new acting gig.
“It's been great and fun. I'm getting to work with people I've known for many years but haven't necessarily worked with. It's a happy, easy set, which is nice. I'm having a great time,” Tom told
Soap Opera Digest.
“I was excited to work with
Susan Flannery and
Katherine Kelly Lang, and I knew they were people I would definitely get to have good stuff with,” she added.
Tom, who began reporting for work on July 18 and made her onscreen debut on August 30 on
The Bold and the Beautiful, spent 12 years on another CBS soap opera,
The Young and the Restless, in which she earned several Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress.
“It's like the Twilight Zone,” she said when asked how it feels to be back in the studio set shared by both soap operas she previously worked for. “I feel like I never left. I've been gone three-and-a-half years, but it feels like I just walked out the door. It's nice. It's also nice because a lot of the crew [members] from
The Young and the Restless are now working on
The Bold and the Beautiful, so I feel I know more people on
B&B than
Y&R now, because everyone's gone.
So far, Tom is having blast on
The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as working with show executive producer Brad Bell, who offered her to play the role of Katie.
“He's the person I'd want to work for at this point. I'm very happy working for him. I'm along for the ride. We've bounced some ideas around. A nice thing is that Katie has been off the canvas for a long time and even when she was on the canvas, she wasn't fully developed. We can do whatever we want, which is great. I feel like I'm actually creating a new character, and that's exciting,” she said.
