Emmy-award winner Heather Tom has been tapped for a role on CBS' daytime drama series, The Bold and the Beautiful
. The 31-year-old actress is reportedly set to play Katie Logan, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang
) and Donna's (Jennifer Gareis
) younger sister. Tom will be taking over actress Nancy Sloane, who portrayed the role from 1987-1989, and at different points in time from 1991-2004.
Heather Tom's involvement in The Bold and the Beautiful
marks her third role in daytime television. She spent twelve years on another CBS soap opera, The Young and the Restless
, during which she earned eight Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actress. She won the category twice, first in 1993 and then again in 1999.
In 1997, Tom took a six-month long break from The Young and the Restless
, after which she joined yet another daytime drama, One Life to Live
. She was cast in the role of Kelly Cramer Buchanan, and her portrayal earned her an additional two Emmy nominations, this time in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category. She played the same character when she appeared in 18 episodes of another soap opera, All My Children
After leaving both daytime soaps, Heather Tom decided to try her luck in primetime television. She guest-starred in such series as Monk
, The Wedding Bells
and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
. Last year, rumors circulated that she would be returning to The Young and the Restless
, but the series issued a statement saying they were satisfied with the work of Tom's replacement, actress Amelia Heinle
, and denied asking Tom to come back to the show.
According to soapcentral.com, Tom has signed a six-month long contract with The Bold and the Beautiful
and began reporting for work on July 18. Her first airdate has yet to be announced.
The Bold and the Beautiful
airs weekdays on CBS.
