This season, on
The Biggest Loser, contestants are family members competing in pairs. Biggest Loser trainers
Bob Harper and
Jillian Michaels hand-picked their teams and personally delivered the news to each pair. Bob took on the parents and children, while Jillian decided to work with husbands and wives. At the first weigh in, two of Jilliam’s teams, Heba and Ed and Stacey and Adam, fell below the yellow line and were up for elimination. The teams decided to send Stacey and Adam home, perhaps feeling that Heba and Ed had a better work ethic. Now that everyone has been weighed in, worked out, and started losing weight, which teams will be the last ones standing at the very end?
Here is the starting weight of the remaining contestants this season on
The Biggest Loser:
- Michelle and Renee: 509 pounds
- Coleen and Jerry: 598 pounds
- Amy and Shellay: 455 pounds
- Amy and Phil: 560 pounds
- Vicky and Brady: 587 pounds
- Heba and Ed: 629 pounds
- LT (Little Tom) and Tom Sr.: 671 pounds
LT and Tom have entered the competition as the heaviest team but did not drop the highest percentage of weight in the season premiere. Husband and wife Vicky and Brady surprised everyone with a combined 45 pound weight loss, bringing their percentage to 7.67%. Overall, the parents and children performed better in the first weigh in than the husbands and wives. Last season, there were a few couples that were married and it seemed that in many instances, one spouse would give up on another and it became their undoing. Perhaps parents and children will be able to perform better this season, if they don't let their family issues get in the way of their progress.
Even though Heba and Ed had a slow start, if they can get their percentages up at the weigh ins, they could be contenders to go to the end. In their interview with BuddyTV, Stacey and Adam said that the orange team had the best work ethic of any team in the competition. On the other hand, Vicky and Brady cannot continue on the path that they're on. They'll plateau soon enough and I don't expect them to last past the midway point.
If I have to put my money on any parents and children, I'd go with the two mother-daughter teams: Amy and Shellay as well as Michelle and Renee. They could be motived by Ali's win last season and be buying into the whole girl power mentality.
On next week's episode, Rocco DiSpirito will visit the teams and give them advice for healthy cooking. The players will also have to place bets on how much weight they will lose with a winning team receiving a phone call home.
