Network: NBC
Premiere: Tuesday, September 16, 8pm
Cast: Alison Sweeney (host), Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels (trainers)
Premise: The Biggest Loser brings together people from all across the United States with the common goal of losing weight and changing their lives. They compete against each other in various challenges, face temptations, and must weigh in every week to stay in the game.
Following the success of last season's couples edition of
The Biggest Loser, the show returns this fall with a families edition. The 6th season features teams of two family members that range from siblings to cousins to grandparents. Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels will return as the trainers, heading up their signature blue and black teams. Jillian has dominated as a trainer, producing several winners over the years and, without a doubt, Bob will be working his hardest to even the score a little.
Nationwide casting calls were held to find the contestants for season 6. Eligible candidates had to be over the age of 18 and, in each city, the first 500 people in line were guaranteed to be seen.
The Biggest Loser always looks to cast people from all walks of life and from different areas of the country, in order to provide a wide representation of the obesity epidemic that we are facing as a nation.
I have been a fan of
The Biggest Loser for quite some time, following it religiously since season 2. However, the show has made two mistakes recently that I'd love to see them correct. First, in season 5, they aired 2 hour episodes, which felt extremely long and drawn out. Second, the game became about manipulation and deception instead of changing one's life. If the show can get back to its roots and just focus on the positive (and do it in 60 minutes), it can easily win me back.
