The N Network Cancels 'The Best Years' Canadian actor Brandon McLaren was born on July 3, 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Of Grenadian and Trinidadian descent, he attended the State University of New York on a soccer scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Best known as the Red Power Ranger in Power Rangers: SPD, Brandon McLaren has also appeared in a number of other television shows. Among these are Secret Central, The Chris Isaak Show, The Days, 49th and Main, Blade: The Series, and Smallville. He has worked on films such as Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, She’s the Man, Ashes Fall, and Vice.
Devon Sylver is played by Brandon McLaren in the television drama series The Best Years. A star athlete with a full basketball scholarship, he grew up with his parents’ pride and love, pushing himself to excel at sports and be a winner. He slowly enters into a relationship with the orphan Samantha, trying to teach her how to trust people as well as teaching her how to love. Devon and Samantha are both similar in that they earned their places at Charles University through hard work and honest effort, yet have little prestige or blue-blooded lineage from their family names.
