Sometimes, opposites attract. And other times, as seems to have happened between Lucas Daniels, the 30-year-old oilfield equipment distributor from Odessa, Texas, and Ashley Hebert, the 26-year-old dental student Bachelorette, opposites enjoy each other enough to hang out for a while before eventually admitting that they aren't that attracted after all.

But Lucas, who made his mark as the guy who proclaimed, "She's wasting my f***ing time!" when Ashley revealed she was still hung up on a certain He Who Shall Not Be Named, had nothing bad to say about Ashley, his time on The Bachelorette or the guys who made it into Ashley's final four. Even a true Southern gentleman can blow his lid under pressure, especially when he feels like he's been forced to play second (or more like fourth) fiddle to a jerk.

Read on to find out what Lucas thinks of Ben, Ryan, Bentley (oh no, I named him after all!), why he was shocked that Ashley eliminated him, but not that shocked, and who he thinks should be the next Bachelor:

On whether he "emotionally checked out" when Ashley told everyone that she had seen Bentley again in Hong Kong:
"Yeah, when she tells all of us that she fell for him, it was just kind of a gut shot, really. I didn't emotionally check out, no, but it put a damper on the way I was feeling about her at the time. I was kind of on Cloud 9, and we had a good date, and then she threw that at us. I don't know. I've never had somebody do that before, especially after a date. I was still checked in but I was pretty bummed out. [...] I guess as a typical man, you really don't want to be second or third, in the sense of trying to get to know a woman. At the time I was like, "What am I doing here?" But I am very excited I stayed to go to Taiwan, and I'm glad I did it. It didn't work out for me, but I gave it that one more extra shot, so there's no regrets."

On how he felt about his elimination:
"I felt very confident going into that, I was already prepared to take her home. I was prepared to say "Hey, Mom and Dad, here's Ashley." So I was shocked. I wasn't quite sure what she didn't see in me versus, I guess, Ames. But she made great decisions pretty much throughout. We kind of moved at a slower pace. I was bummed and I was kind of shocked in the end."

On whom he thinks is right for Ashley:
"It's been so back and forth with everybody, including Bentley and all that stuff going on but, you know, I think probably the two most compatible of the remaining is Ben F. and JP, probably. [...] If I had to pick -- I think she has the most, it's not so serious with Ben F. I think they have the most fun together. I mean, look at the guy. He is a good friend of mine on the show. I mean, wine maker, just living life to the fullest. I think it would be Ben F., if she had to pick anybody."

On what he thinks of Bentley:
"I guess it's the way I was raised, you just don't treat somebody like that. So it really, really shocked me. I mean, 'cause he and I were pretty cordial toward each other. I was nice to him, he was nice to me. But then seeing interviews that he was giving, kind of throwing us under the bus, how we have no chance type deal. That really surprised me. And the way he was talking about her, I mean you just don't talk about a woman like that. It was very childish and I have no sympathy for people who treat other people like that."

On why things didn't work out between him and Ashley:
"I think we were just really opposites, really. I mean, I'm very, very traditional. I'm conservative and she's just kind of the other side. And that's fine, opposites attract, I guess. We just had some differences in kind of what I believed in, but I was surprised she didn't keep me around, honestly. I didn't see it coming, but I was humbled by it and if that was her decision, then I respected that."

On the 'different ideas on family and relationships' that he and Ashley had:
"She hit on quite a bit about my divorce. I guess that's something that she was worried about. Like I told her on the show, it's been three years. It's not a problem. That might've scared her, saying "Okay, he's already been married once. What makes him think this will work a second time?" Her differences, she and I, I guess the whole time we were trying to pinpoint those. We knew we weren't, I guess, compatible to the sense of we believe in the exact same things and we have the same goals, and we want to do the same type things."

On his favorite moments on the show:
"One of my favorites, honestly, even though I got beat in the ring, was doing all that Thai boxing. That was an experience itself. I've never trained like that. That's just, it was unbelievable. And we got to fight in [the] town square, pretty much is what it was. And honestly my date with Ashley in Hong Kong. I would never in my life probably see a skyline like that, ever, and we were right in the middle of Hong Kong. So that was wonderful."

On what he learned about himself:
"Well, one thing I learned is how to really open up and talk about my feelings, 'cause I've never talked about my feelings like that, that much, in a long, long time. I guess that might be your typical man or whatever, but it just got me to open up. I've always said what's on my mind, since I was small, but this really gets you in touch with your feelings and helps you open up. And I think she deserved that. Some of the guys probably didn't do as much as I did, but I felt like "What do I have to lose?" So I let her know how I feel."

On why he and the other guys were so annoyed by Ryan:
"He wasn't a bad guy. He wasn't a mean guy. He was just -- when you're with somebody that long and somebody that's that energetic and kind of ... ugh, I don't know how to really explain him. It was just too much. It was just wearing and we were exhausted 'cause he was just through the roof the entire show."

On who -- including Ryan -- would make the best Bachelor:
Ryan I guess would be a decent Bachelor. I mean those women better be very, very energetic and ready for, I don't know, hopefully have a lot of Red Bull. But anyway, I think a perfect candidate in my mind -- just because he as a very good friend of mine, he's a genuine gentleman -- is Ben F., if he had the opportunity. I think he's wonderful. He's just a great guy. We got really close. He and Constantine, we're all good buds on the show. I think he'd be a great candidate."

On his hometown date predictions for the final four:
"I think Ashley's all about having a really good time and having fun. Just knowing Constantine, he's so much fun, I know his family's going to be so much fun. I think they'll connect just 'cause they're probably going to do some Greek type things and whatever else. I think she's going to have a wonderful time. And I think she's going to have a wonderful time with Ben's family. It's just his sister and his mother, but you know they're in Sonoma and he's probably going to show her how to drink wine or how to make wine. I think those two guys she's going to have a good time with."
