And then there were two. (Successful
Bachelor couples, that is.)
Jillian Harrison, 29, and Ed Swiderski, who met and got engaged on
The Bachelorette season 5, have announced their split.
"I love him and I'm really sad, but I have to look out for me," Harris told
Us Weekly.Swiderski, 30, sounded more open to a reconciliation--at least some point down the road:
"We're both kind of resetting. Jillian isn't happy and I'm definitely
sad about the whole thing, but we've got to work through some things on
our own if we decide to move forward."
The announcement comes on the coattails of the much uglier and public breakup between Jake Pavelka, who originally competed for Jillian's affections before becoming
The Bachelor, and his now ex-fiance Vienna Girardi.
But don't expect Jill and Ed to go down he same road as Jake and Vienna, who put
their fight on display in a joint interview this past Monday during an episode of
The Bachelorette. While watching the
showdown, Harris tweeted, "Heartbroken for these two right now, not for the
failure of the relationship, for the failure of restraint & the
route it went down. Awww."Given the recent Jake and Vienna blowout and the show's 2-for-19 track record, this latest breakup should come as no surprise, though surely saddens fans of Jillian and Ed, who at times seemed one of the most well-adjusted couples to come out of the program (second only to the show's golden couple, Trista and Ryan). But bumps in the road started early for these two: The scandal of the season revolved around
accusations that Ed was juggling multiple girlfriends back home while pursuing Jillian.
