The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman’s Andy Baldwin has two reasons to celebrate, having met the girl of his dreams as well as saving someone’s life.

After the filming of the finale of The Bachelor, the show’s cast and crew got together to party at a club in the Turtle Bay Resort in Oahu, Hawaii.

The Bachelor’s executive producer Mark Fleiss recounted what happened. He explained, "One of the other guests at the hotel was in there, and he was dancing... and the next thing I know I just hear screams. One of the guests at the hotel, a man probably in his fifties, had fallen and really had done severe damage to his face and head and was bleeding profusely. It was more blood than I've ever seen... We realized 'Oh my God! We know who can save the day here... Andy! He turned around, sprang into action... he tended to the man, held his wounds together and did some bandaging and kept the guy immobilized waiting for paramedics to arrive. Andy pretty much saved the guy."

Baldwin is a 30-year old lieutenant and doctor who previously studied at Manheim Township High School. Growing up, he worked different jobs just to finance his college education. His hard work paid off as he became the valedictorian of his class and was also named ESPN’s National Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995. Eventually, he joined the United States Navy, where he ranked as lieutenant, and subsequently pursued medical school.

While most people deemed his benevolent act as heroic, Baldwin claims that he just did what he had to do. He said, "I saw this pool of blood coming out, I wanted to make sure his airway was intact. I checked it, he was breathing, I checked his pulse. I cleared his airway and got some pressure on the bleeding and was able to get some words out of him… That's what I'm trained to do. I just didn't expect it to happen on probably the most emotional day of my life."
