The Bachelor: Andy Baldwin - Then and Now
In 2007, Andy Baldwin won the hearts of women everywhere when he became the latest man to join ABC’s The Bachelor. Baldwin was more than just a pretty face. This resident of Hawaii was a Navy doctor with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He came to the show convinced that he would find true love and he found it with Tessa Horst. There was speculation in the media that she did not accept his proposal at the final rose ceremony but the couple has stated on several occasions that that was not the case. Not even two months after the finale aired though, the couple first called off their engagement then the whole relationship soon after that.

After Baldwin’s season of The Bachelor aired, he earned two special distinctions that set him apart from those who came before and after him. In March of 2008, he was voted America’s Favorite Bachelor on a special episode of The Bachelor entitled “Where Are They Now?” This month, he was named one of People magazine’s hottest bachelors in 2008.

Rumors also swirled in early 2008 that Baldwin was dating Marla Maples, Donald Trump’s ex-wife. Pictures popped up on TMZ and gossip websites everywhere. “Marla is a great woman and I can’t wait to spend more time with her in the future. She’s smart, sexy and very genuine,” JustJared quoted Andy as saying. However, it turned out just to be a publicity stunt for a new show Maples had signed on for.

In January of this year, Baldwin was deployed to Iraq, which was sited as part of the reason he split from Horst. "That's another thing the women coming on the show really had to take into account was I am a naval officer and I can get called away on deployment at any time," Baldwin said in a press statement a few months before he left. He is currently serving 6-12 months in Bahrain.
