After the evening with the friends, Jason and Melissa have a private nightcap together, giving him the opportunity to ask more about her parents. They are very private people, and they haven't met very many of her friends at all. Then, they stop with the talking, and do more kissing.
After Dallas, Jason flies back to his pretend-houseboat in Seattle to make one of the biggest decisions of his life. Chris Harrison drops by for another man-chat, and Jason gives him the rundown on the hometown dates. I'll refrain from recapping this portion of the episode because there is pretty much nothing new being said at all.
The Bachelor Rose Ceremony
There are four beautiful girls who stand before me, but I only have three roses in my hands. These roses represent the girls who are still in the running toward becoming America's Next Top Mrs. Mesnick
Jason gives a rose to Molly and Jillian. As per usual, Chris Harrison pops his head in to tell us that there is only one rose left. Thank goodness, since we're all a little rusty on arithmetic. And the final rose goes to Melissa.
We all knew that was coming. Naomi's family was all kinds of nuts, with the pigeon burial, the Jesus-speak and the reincarnation. I would have run away from her house as fast as humanly possible, if I were Jason.
After the Ceremony, Jason takes Naomi downstairs and tells her that his decision had nothing to do with her or her family, as he loved them both, but he thinks that they are in different places in their lives. (Um, yeah right. This is the reality TV version of "It's not you, it's me." It was totally because of her family, I'm willing to bet.) She disagrees. She says that she is ready to settle down and get married and be a mom, and she would rather he said that he had just liked the other women more instead of giving his lame-ass excuse. In the limo, Naomi cries bitterly that the very reasons she gave for not wanting to go home are the exact same reasons why Jason sent her home, and "it sucks."
Back upstairs with the three finalists, Jason tells them the happy news that he's taking them to New Zealand. How lucky for him that ABC is footing the bill for him!
As the credits roll, we see more of Jillian's crazy Canadian family. He puts on the Maple Leaf boxers over his pants as Glen belts out "O Canada." See how much Canadians rock?
