One is tempted to say
Michele Leavy had the ultimate adding-insult-to-injury experience on this season of
The Bachelor.
After suffering a fall down the stairs that resulted in a concussion, she also did not receive a rose from
Brad Womack, and was sent home. Since this was only the second episode, though, and since she hardly spent any time with Brad at all, it seems less a rejection as some really poor timing.
The 30-year-old from New Jersey recently discussed her experience with the show, and exactly what happened right before her frightening accident.
At first glance, you might think a hot curling iron might be the only source of physical danger to the women of
The Bachelor in their hilltop house. However, the beautiful grounds are also a haven for a potentially serious threat: bees.
It's no joke to Michele: she's allergic. She says that she jinxed herself, commenting to another woman that she was allergic, and being stung only a half hour later. She felt the effects immediately, and went upstairs to lie down to recover from the dizziness and nausea she was feeling as a result.
Michele possibly watched last season of
The Bachelor and saw how
Bevin Powers' ankle injury was perceived by the other women and the viewing public. So rather than keep herself separated, she decided to head downstairs, and that's when she fell. She thinks that she passed out because she has no recollection of it.
When she came to, she became quite concerned. She had previous back surgery, and the difficulty she was having breathing was worrying. The paramedics came, and apparently the whole ordeal was quite a bit more intense than what made it on air.
Michele said, “They tried to move me and that's when I started screaming and crying. You didn't see that on TV, but I was hysterical. They put me on the stretcher with a neck brace and they took me to the hospital. I was hospitalized and it was painful.”
She recovered enough and thought she would be heading out for the date with the others, but it was not to be.
Overall, she had very limited time with Brad, but it seems as though she doesn't think that mattered very much. Although she felt rushed for their final two-minute getting-to-know-you session (and she was on pain medication from her fall!), she thinks ultimately she and Brad did not have chemistry from the get-go.
She said she was actually surprised she made it through the first ceremony, saying, “The first night, I didn't think I was getting a rose. I didn't really feel a connection the first night. If you watch it, my face, I was like, ‘Oh my God I got a rose!' I was happy that I got one because I didn't know if he felt it because I didn't really feel it. I'm not one to fall for somebody real quick. It takes a while for my walls to break down. So I was like, ‘Wow, maybe I'll give it a shot.'”
She does, though, think Brad is a good-looking guy, and knows from the other woman who did spend more time with him that he's down-to-earth and genuine. She's rooting for
Lindsey,
Solisa or
Jenni, but also thinks that
Bettina and
DeAnna have a really good chance as well.
She said she can see both of those women with Brad, noting, “I think he looks really good with Bettina. They look really pretty together, and I told Bettina that….DeAnna... right away when I saw her I was threatened by her because she had this elegance about her -- composure about her -- that a lot of the other girls didn't have. I knew it stood out and that he appreciated [it] because the way he looked at her versus the other girls. I wouldn't be shocked if she made it to the end.”
Hmmm…sound familiar? A poised brunette and a blonde divorcee who's reluctant to share too much too soon with
The Bachelor about her divorce look likely to make it to the final two? Where have I heard that story before?
