Juan Pablo Galavis is no longer wearing the most hated Bachelor
crown and it's all thanks to Arie Luyendyk Jr., who has taken so much heat for proposing to Becca Kufrin at the end of The Bachelor
season 22 finale only to break up with her on national TV to be with Lauren Burnham and ended up proposing to her.
Bachelor Star Arie Luyendyk Jr. on Why He Broke Up with Becca Kufrin on TV: 'I Wanted Her To Be the Bachelorette'>>>
"He smashed me!" Galavis said of Luyendyk stealing his crown.
While it may be a relief for Galavis to no longer hold that title, the 36-year-old former soccer player can't help but sympathize with the 36-year-old race car driver.
"You know, I feel bad for him," Galavis told Entertainment Tonight
. "Because at the end of the day... you just get to be with that person for [around] 40 hours, so you don't know them that well."
"If he followed his heart and the other one was the girl, I guess it's right," Galavis continued.
Galavis also endured plenty of backlash during his time on The Bachelor season 18. In the end, he chose Nikki Ferrell but did not propose to her. They later appeared on Couples Therapy and eventually decided to end their relationship after months of fighting.
Looking back, Galavis still stands by his decision not to get engaged on TV simply because he was not ready.
"I always remember what Nikki's dad told me: 'If you're gonna propose to my daughter, [you've got to be] 100 percent sure you're gonna marry her,'" he recalled. "And for me, it was very hard because I have a daughter and I was like, 'I think the same way as you do. I hope the guy that proposes to my daughter is gonna marry her, and right now I just need to get to know her better.'"
