More often than not, we usually learn the identity of the new Bachelor right after The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose special. But this season, ABC is taking its sweet time while viewers wait in anticipation. And though there are already several potential names in talks, including Jake and Kiptyn from The Bachelorette, there's also that possibility that the new love searcher will be someone new.

"I don't have the final decision, but I think it works when you have someone come back. You have that built-in, vested interest in that person. We're also taking the pulse of America. We have a poll on," The Bachelor host Chris Harrison told TV

Besides Jake and Kiptyn, there's another eliminated suitor from The Bachelorette in the running.

"It was all about Jake before, and now it seems Reid is taking over. I don't even know if any of them have been approached. ... We'll probably call all the guys," Harrison said.

Based on polls, many fans have hoped that Jillian Harris would choose Reid instead of Ed. And though Harrison still thinks that Jillian made the right choice in choosing Ed, he acknowledges Reid's potential as the next Bachelor.

"You know, I'm not sure why people didn't love Ed more. Maybe he's kind of goofy or something, but Reid definitely has a lot of popularity and people are obviously clamoring for him to be the next Bachelor. I get it with Reid. He's a lovable guy. I liken him to Matthew Perry. ... He does [look like him]. He's the Chandler Bing of our show. I can see why people like him," he said.

Meanwhile, Harrison remains optimistic about the direction of Jillian and Ed's relationship, as well as Bachelor star Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney's.

"Jason and Molly, I think they're prepared to make the move. I think she's heading out to Seattle pretty soon. I wouldn't be surprised if they got married within a year. I think Jillian and Ed are going to make it. I've seen them a lot in the past 10 weeks and they're doing great," he revealed.
