'Bachelor' Slap: What Gloria Allred, 'Teen Mom' and Mel Gibson Have to Do with It
Oh for the love of ABC. Last night on The Bachelor (or at some point on the Internet in the nail-biting weeks leading up to the premiere), we all witnessed THE SLAP but had no idea that somehow Gloria Allred, Teen Mom Amber Portwood and Mel Gibson would be involved in it this morning.

Here's a refresher: The first woman out of the limos last night, Chantal O'Brien gave Bachelor Brad Womack a violent gift on behalf of "every woman in America," delivering a hearty slap to the face. We think the sound of her hand hitting his face is probably fake or enhanced, but whatev. You get the idea. And in the off chance you haven't seen it yet, take a quick gander before we get to the ridiculous part of the story:

Then last night as Brad was coming out of the premiere party, TMZ's camera got his take on the slap: "That chick is tough, man."

TMZ's camera guy then went on to ask Brad if he'd heard about the whole Teen Mom Amber Portwood controversy with her beating up on her baby daddy Gary Shirley, alluding to comparisons between Chantal's slap and Amber's own slapping, also caught on camera. He then asked Brad if he would be pressing charges against Chantal.

"No! I deserved the slap," Brad said, laughing it off.

He also had this statement for TMZ:

"I think Chantal was just trying to make a statement about my past behavior and make a strong first impression, which she did. I think what Chantal did was a light-hearted gesture, which I took as such. I do not condone violence in any relationship, nor would I keep someone around who I felt truly wished to do me harm."

THEN, Gloria Allred got all up in the mix, telling TMZ this morning that she doesn't believe Slappy Chantal should be prosecuted for criminal battery for the slap. She went on to say that Teen Mom Amber Portwood's case involved "multiple violent and physical fights in the presence of their baby daughter," while Chantal O'Brien's slap was "an isolated instance" and a "promotional vehicle" for the show.

THEN, in the name of stirring the pot just a tad bit more, TMZ pointed out that Mel Gibson is currently being investigated for an isolated slap, which caused baby mama Oksana Grigorieva to break a couple of veneers -- Brad's pearly whites all remained intact.

OMG, for real? Geez Louise. Chantal is not violent Amber or crazy Mel Gibson. She's just a girl. Standing in front of a boy. And the rest of America. Asking him to love her. By slapping him.

Bottom line, kids: Hitting is a no-no, even if a producer tells you to do it. Now Chantal, tell Brad you're sorry and go think about what you've done.
