Monday night, audiences tuned in for the latest
Bachelor drama-fest with one question on their minds: Is Tenley, the adorable, virtuous, former Disney princess, really pregnant?
In the promo before the episode, ABC showed contestant Tenley Molzahn proclaiming the news to to Jake Pavelka, and then breaking down in tears. But the scene was cut from the episode, and viewers were left to wonder if they had imagined the whole thing.
Now the network has released a "deleted scene" that includes Tenley's pregnancy joke, and Bachelor host
Chris Harrison took to Twitter to reassure Tenley's fans, saying, "Tenley preg was a joke we cut out of the show but got included in a promo. You'll see full video on WTA spcl." (That means the
Bachelor "Women Tell All" Special, which won't air for over a month.)
It's a classic bait-and-switch that we're used to seeing from
The
Bachelor, but that doesn't make it any less annoying and disingenuous. And if you think you'
re frustrated by the situation, think of poor Tenley, who's probably having her empty belly rubbed by a stranger right now.
Isn't it funny how
The Bachelor's "Deleted Scenes" contain the
most important plot information about the series (at least, the most important according to
their own promos), and yet the the
editors can't possibly manage to fit those minute-long scenes into
their two-FREAKING-hours-long weekly episodes?
And Monday's episode was overflowing with drama, anyway! Listen up, ABC: You don't need to make up salacious stories to get viewers. The premise of your show and the abundance of white wine spritzers on set do the trick
just fine. Here's the scene, and just to drive the point home:
Tenley is NOT pregnant. She did exactly what I predicted she would have done, because she is a normal, rational, mentally healthy human being with a functioning conscience and brain. Which, of course, begs the question: What is Tenley doing on
The Bachelor?
