The Baby Borrowers, one of NBC's latest reality TV offerings, won't be airing as originally planned by the network. Instead of kicking off on Monday, February 18, the series about parents and kids will be held in reserve until a later date.
For those who are not familiar,
The Baby Borrowers is a new unscripted series based on the hit British program that asks five teenage couples, ages 16 to 19, to set up a home and begin fast-tracking on parenthood by becoming caring parents first to a baby, then a toddler, pre-teen and grandparents, all over the course of one month.
"This series promises to be a rollercoaster of emotions, laughs and empathy for people of all ages," Craig Plestis, NBC's executive vice president of alternative programming, development and specials, said. "Those who have survived the child-raising experience and those younger viewers who wonder what awaits them can all identify with what these overwhelmed kids are going to endure over the years, all presented in a telescopic amount of time."
Though many are excited to see the new series, the network has taken
The Baby Borrowers off the schedule for now and will replace it with the family competition show
My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad, in which fathers and their respective son or daughter will be leading challenges testing dad's strength and how well he works together with his son or daughter. In the end, the triumphant dad will strut away with money for his child's future and of course, bragging rights.
No word yet on when
The Baby Borrowers will make its U.S. debut. However, fans can also catch another new show called
Amne$ia, a game show hosted by Dennis Miller in which the questions come from the contestants' own lives. It will premiere at 9pm on Friday, February 22, following
1 vs. 100, and move to its regular 8pm home the following week.
