Trace Adkins has an incredible speaking voice. It's part of his charm. No matter how great you think Trace Adkins' personality is, the voice helps more than you might think. On
The Celebrity Apprentice, Trace was constantly praised for his personality and his good ideas. He rarely spoke, but when he did, people listened. The voice mattered. However, despite his success as a personality on
The Apprentice, does this translate into acting? I can only think of one person who has made an acting career mostly because of their voice, and that person's name is Sam Elliott. I like Trace, but he lacks the charisma and general badassery of Mr. Elliott. Then again, Trace is a smart dude, and maybe the acting will work out for him. We will soon find out. Trace recently filmed an episode of
The Young and the Restless, and will appear in two upcoming feature films.
For
The Young and the Restless, Trace Adkins will take on the easiest of acting roles: he will play himself. For the soap's May 2 episode, Trace will appear as Trace and sing his new single “You're Gonna Miss This” from his latest album “American Man, Greatest Hits, Vol. II.”
In addition to his
Young and the Restless role, Trace will be playing someone not named Trace Adkins in a film called “Trailer Park of Terror,” which will premiere this month at the Nashville Film Festival. Now, I don't think I'd ever want to see a movie called “Trailer Park of Terror” unless it was a comedy or directed by Sam Raimi or Robert Rodriguez. Maybe it's good; I'll probably never now. Next holiday season, Trace will also be appearing in an indie film called “American Carol,” which stars Kelsey Grammar.
I wish Trace the best of luck in this new endeavor. My hunch is that he won't be setting the world on fire with his acting, though that may be a needlessly cynical point of view.
Will Trace be a good actor?
