The next item is a pair of diamond earrings. He starts the bidding at $12,000, but again, no bites. Joan frets backstage. Finally, someone gives a pity bid of $15,000. Finally, the item sold at the opening price.
Joan OKs an order change, and the next item is a black onyx ring. But Clint keeps referring to it as "earrings" so Joan sneaks up on stage to correct him. She also breathes some life into the auction, ordering the model to display the ring. The audience perks up, and KOTU starts making some money. Joan and Clint team up, and they start doing better.
Board room time. Donald Trump compliments Joan and Annie for a job well done. The Donald also specifically praises Melissa for her excellent work selecting the pieces to auction. They were all great, and large enough to be visible from any seat in the room. Annie tries to take some of the credit for this, even though at the time, she kind of condescended Melissa for spending so much time with that decision. Piers Morgan gets on Jesse James' case for not calling in favors from his famous wife, Sandra Bullock, or famous movie stars that he knows. He says lamely that he doesn't mix business and pleasure.
The board turns their attention to KOTU. Ivanka is not pleased that Joan wasn't on stage right from the get-go. She's also peeved that they picked smaller pieces that weren't visible to everyone, but mostly, Ivanka and the rest of the board is upset that KOTU placed all their hopes on only one piece. But Joan says that the point of the event was to raise money, not to sell all the jewelry pieces, but Ivanka is all, don't disrespect me, bitch. Joan takes a lot of flak, but Melissa starts to pipe up in defense of her mum. For some reason that I must have missed, Joan sticks her fingers in her ears while Annie Duke bitches about her. They exchange some nasty words, like, "You have an ego, bitch," or whatever. Joan compares Annie to Hitler, which makes Piers think fondly of Omarosa. Annie points out that she was able to call in favors and have her high roller friends fly in to attend the charity auction, which Donald approves of. Which is the perfect time for Natalie to bring up her Phil Hellmuth story. But Piers says that Annie was able to intervene and stop Phil from supporting the opposing side so Annie won there.
I really can't understand the things come out of Melissa Rivers' mouth. She is torn between sucking up to her mother and being a team Athena player. Piers finds Melissa psychologically fascinating.
Ivanka announces that KOTU raised $92,000 in profit, mostly through the sale of one piece. Piers says dramatically that Athena raised a total of $153,000 in profit. This is a record donation on
The Celebrity Apprentice. Annie announces that her chosen charity is Refugees International.
Melissa and Annie bicker about Joan bitterly as they exit the board room. Annie hopes that Joan is the one to be fired tonight because bitch is dead to her.
Back in the board room, the Donald asks Clint for the weakest player on KOTU. Clint hems and haws and doesn't make a choice. The question comes up about who was responsible for picking the jewelry, which was Natalie. Joan has to defend her decision for not providing any input on the jewelry choice. The board asks Joan who she would fire if she had the choice, and Joan actually gets tearful. Good God. Herschel Walker is looking pretty good because he raised the most money ($55,000). Donald says that Clint was a terrible auctioneer, but he really isn't to blame because none of the auction goers could see the pieces. In the end, Natalie Gulbis is fired because she wasn't an effective fundraiser and picked the wrong kind of jewelry. Joan is verklempt, but Natalie takes it all in stride. After the firing, Melissa warns Joan that Annie hates her more than ever.
