On March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot at a hotel in Washington, D.C. The Americans addresses that historical event on tonight's "In Control" and the response by both the FBI and KGB. Were the Soviets responsible for the attack?

Official synopsis: When an assassin attempts to kill President Reagan, Philip and Elizabeth scramble to handle the fallout within the KGB.  Meanwhile, Stan pressures his source within the Rezidentura to find out if the KGB was responsible for the attempted assassination.

The Americans takes on the true historical event. Even though the person responsible for trying to kill the president is known today, immediately afterward, there was a frenzy to find out who was responsible.

While the Jennings are working on the case for the KGB, Agent Beeman is as well. In an unexpected flip of the situation, the KGB agents spy on their FBI neighbor. Tensions are high after the assassination attempt in the country and between Elizabeth and Philip.

Elizabeth asks, "Do you think you can just do what we need to do?" Good question.

The Americans airs on Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on FX.
