I can only imagine Sam and Dan's happy, happy faces the moment they realize that Flight Time and Big Easy were eliminated on the last leg of
The Amazing Race. They've always wanted them out, yes, and it took one pang of (necessary) selfishness from Dan at the Roadblock in Prague to seal their fate. Then again, Big Time was eaten up by frustration: he really could've solved the puzzle, but he didn't. Oh well. Talk about the ultimate example of buckling under pressure.
It sucks seeing it that way, but I'll still say, the Globetrotters dealt with all that pressure throughout the race quite well, and that's why I feel extra bad that they've been eliminated. They're still joking at the side of the Ekotechnicke Museum while serving out their four-hour penalty! Sam and Dan, on the other hand, are still fighting during the Detour. It's obvious from the past few weeks that I despite the brothers, and I still hope they suffer an epic fail in Las Vegas that will drop them to third place.
That leaves me with two teams to root for. Meghan and Cheyne? Yes, they've been solid, and if I'm looking for an easy win, I might as well root for them. Well, from the very beginning
I predicted they'll win this entire thing, and so far they haven't failed me. But their situation is pretty much like Nick and Starr from a few seasons back: their victory is so inevitable, that watching them be the consistent racers they are is actually boring. They never even faced a situation that almost cost them the race like last season's winners, Tammy and Victor! All we got is a little argument here and there, and a lot of exhilarating screams.
If we're talking about drama, however, there's Brian and Ericka--and no, I'm not referring to Ericka's many meltdowns. This story's been told many times, of the team who believed in playing fair, and in the power of good karma, that even if they've been making many mistakes in their tasks, something always brings them to, at the very least, second to the last place. I did say that I love a good underdog story, and it'd be very satisfying to see these two actually come ahead and win the whole thing.
Or, at the very least, arrive in second place. Please, good karma, kick Sam and Dan in the ass and put them in third place. Please.
The last leg in
The Amazing Race has always been, for me at least, a study in inevitability. The ones ahead are generally the ones who win, and nobody really makes a big mistake, especially since they're back in the United States, and the only thing that'll kill them is their own stupidity. That said, I can't decide on who to root for in the race. Oh well. I'll just leave it to fate and all that, which is more certain than it seems.
