TVSquad has recapped last night's Amazing Race about as succinctly as possible, so, if you want to know exactly what happened, check it out.
However, if you keep reading here after the jump, the whole episode will be ruined for you. Before we get to the spoilers, I'll just say that the island nation of Mauritius that the
Racers visited last night looks pretty freaking nice. I'm planning on visiting some time in the next thirty-five years.
Oh, and the advantages of being blonde and beautiful, like the
Beauty Queens, in
The Amazing Race is staggering.
Spoilers Ahead!
So, for the second time in three weeks,
David and Mary finish last at a pit stop, but are saved because that pit stop happens to be a non-elimination leg. There have only been two non-elimination legs thus far, and David and Mary have finished last at both of them. Coincidence? Probably, but it feels shady.
David and Mary are from Kentucky, are the definition of blue collar workers and are a perfect example of the quality and decency of Southerners. But now, after twice remaining on
The Race undeservedly, favoritism is a word that keeps creeping on into the back of my head. Remember the first episode, when not one, but two minority teams were booted off unceremoniously.
I am certain that CBS had every non-elimination leg planned weeks in advance and that David and Mary's survival is merely a coincidence. And, I really like David and Mary. They are genuinely kind and lovable people; they just don't deserve to still be on the show. I just think that CBS should have a back-up plan in place whenever the same team hits a non-elimination leg twice. The second time, the team should just be eliminated, moving the non-elimination back one pit stop. Simple, and conspiracy accusations can be avoided. Everyone wins.
