The Amazing Race: Karma's a B****

The Beauty Queens have grown considerably more evil as The Amazing Race has gone along. Not only are they unabashedly evil, they relish every second of it. I'm not one to judge; I'd probably act the same way (with one notable exception). However, I wouldn't act proud of it and attempt to rationalize it. What's wrong with saying “I really want a million dollars.” Last night's episode found our final four teams travel to Morocco, which looks very much like a huge desert. The big wrench thrown into the episode was the incorporation of a Yield. A Yield allows one team to implement an hour time delay for another team. Teams, however, don't have to use the Yield, which is used on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rob and Kim did not use the Yield, nor did Team Zoolander. The Beauty Queens did, delaying Team Alabama. For more reasons than one, this was unspeakably cruel.
First, when the first two teams mercifully chose not to Yield the universally despised Beauty Queens, it was a sign of good faith, assuming that all teams would pass on the Yield. Second, it was completely shameless, considering that Alabama had arrived to the Yield location first, but had to wait overnight for the location (a film studio lot) to open. I was on the fence regarding the Beauty Queens coming into the episode (on the one hand, they're just awful, on the other...they're really hot), but now I'm staunchly anti-Beauty Queen. Anyway, last night was a night of comebacks on The Amazing Race. Rob and Kim suffered a debilitating flat tire on their way to the Road Block, allowing Alabama to make up their Yield time delay. Then, the Beauty Queens bad karma kicked in and they overshot the Road Block by quite a ways, thus letting Rob and Kim pass them at the Road Block. Of course, the news wasn't all good. Tonight's episode turned out to be a non-elimination leg, letting the Beauty Queens off the hook. All four teams live to see another day. Next week should be fun, deciding the final three teams. Obviously, I'll be rooting for the Beauty Queens to be eliminated. I can live without the eye candy. -Oscar Dahl, BuddyTV Senior Writer (Photo Courtesy of RealityTV Magazine)
