Exclusive Interview: Marianna and Julia

Marianna Ruiz and Julia Ruiz appear together as one of the contestant pairs in the 12th season of the Emmy Award-winning CBS competitive reality television series The Amazing Race. They are sisters who both hail from the sunny town of Miami, Florida. Marianna is 25 years old and works as an art gallery manager, while Julia is 26 years old and makes a living as a production assistant. They have been described as energetic, and have said themselves that they are both each other’s best buddies and worst foes. Marianna is the more athletic of the two, whereas her sister Julia is an expert troubleshooter and problem solver.

They are also highly competitive, and Marianna says that their biggest difference is her own steadfast demeanor, compared to Julia’s far more emotional personality. Marianna describes herself as sarcastic and lively, while Julia is witty and creative. The two of them are no stranger to traveling together with each other, though while Julia admits she does often get affected more by her own emotions, she claims that Marianna also has a penchant for being mean. Both of them also look up to previous Amazing Race victors BJ and Tyler, and hope to emulate their positive energy approach to the challenges they face.
